This matchday was a matchday in general...
Group A
At this point it's already been decided...
As my headline states, the teams that will advance forward with the Champions League are Manchester City and PSG. They have done a tremendous work to earn their tickets for the Round of 16. However, between the two, City was the better team overall, with an appetite for scoring a ridiculous quantity of goals per game, and their focus on an "always attacking" game plan. PSG on the other hand, while having the same mentality, just didn't take their chances. Having a team that has Messi, Mbappe and Neymar just isn't enough. You have to use them properly if you want to win games and be the leaders. Then again, Messi is in the pickle right now, with him demanding to go back to his boyhood club Barcelona...
Group B
Practice session has been 100% completed...
Liverpool has completed their practice session and are ready for the Round of 16. That's all I have for this group's leaders.
Porto and Atletico on the other hand, are a different story altogether. Both teams have been mediocre so far, to the point of being separated by just 1 point. Both sides are in an interesting situation, where one of them can mess up and continue with the Europa League, whereas the other can overtake them and advance to the next round. Anything is possible at this point.
Also Milan is dead. Champions League is cancelled for them...

Group C
Ajax do be doing good for themselves...
And I stay true to that statement. Their clash against Dortmund was an important one. Should have they lost, chances of being the leaders were going to be lowered. Draw was going to give both sides a little space to breathe and focus on their last 2 games. But Ajax managed to win, after a long game against the 2nd best team in the group.
Sporting CP have their eyes set on that place Borussia is holding onto. Changes could happen if Sporting does something about it...

Group D
"Los Blancos" are in control, for now...
Real Madrid has had a tough time in Group D. Despite having 3 wins on their belt, they have been hard to achieve, especially since their defeat came from the relatively new boys to the club, Sheriff. Now that same side, that held the title of "Kings of the D", are now in 3rd place. But that's nothing Real Madrid should be feeling good about, because they might come back and bite when they will least notice. Same goes to Inter, who are in 2nd and pose a threat to the "Blancos" as well...
Group E
Bayern is the protagonist and the rest are just side characters...
Same story with Group B. Bayern has done well and have booked their place for the next round.
Barcelona and Benfica are the teams that need to work hard and not mess things up. That 2 point difference is nothing. Anything can happen now...

Group F
This group is fucked up...
Leave it to us to make things look shitty.
Manchester United are the only strong club that has been subpar in terms of performance and the results show. Any of the teams bellow us have a chance of advancing forward with the competition. EVEN YOUNG BOYS!!!
As of now, the first place could've been shared with Villareal, who sit bellow us with no point difference. Even with the goal statistics, we cannot be separated that easily.
If our next game against them is a loss, then we can say goodbye to the Champions League, and maybe the Europa League too...

Group G
Mediocrity at its finest...
I have never liked this group since the beginning. It just screams mediocrity.
But the quick rundown is:
- Salzburg are 1st and if they keep with this form, they might go on to end as champions of their group.
- LOSC and Wolfsburg are on the same level, and are on Salzburg's tail
- Sevilla is a bit far, but not too far from catching up with the rest of the gang.

Group H
La vecchia signora piace il suo blu...
Similar story to that of Group B and Group E. Juventus completing their training course with perfect scores, and picking up Chelsea to continue their journey along the way...
That's it for this matchday report. A few teams have booked their places for the next round, whilst some need more time to do the same. Next stop will be matchweek 11 of the Prem, so I'll be back in a couple of days to report on it as well, and then take a break from my sports journalism to work on something big. Thank goodness for international breaks.
Until next time
