After having
another short break, I’m back to my usual reporting on the Premier League. Or
as the kids would say: “Yapping about football” goofy aah shit. This time
around however, it’s going to be a bit more serious since two clubs have done
such a twist this season that their mishaps cannot be overlooked and needs to be
talked about. After all, these two clubs are the biggest in England, and the
sport in general. Before I jump into that section, which will be a first for my
writing career (if it’s a career?) here, how about we see the selected matches
and their silly sides first, shall we?
Chelsea have
been going through a lot over the last few years, so for them to struggle to win
a simple game of football isn’t anything new. After all, they did a madness and
changed their manager, Enzo Maresca, out of the blue in the beginning of the
month, bringing Liam Rosenior to guide the Blues. And so far, he’s been doing
alright. Sort of.
But the same can’t
be said for Pep Guardiola and the Baby Blues. They’re going through some shit
right now to the point where teams are actually feeling confident and no longer
scared to play against them anymore. They struggled in their last few matches
incredibly, and have been embarrassed on multiple occasions.
You mean to tell
me that after scoring a goal in the 42nd minute, you decide to do
fuck all? And the team that’s visiting you doesn’t clock in your surrender for
99% of the game? Quite pathetic if you ask me.
Both sides had
awful game and the final score clearly shows that. Chelsea failed to capitalise
on City’s crisis happening on the pitch, and City failed to even do anything.
Poor show, unfortunately.
Everton fought
tooth and nail to earn a point from their 1-1 draw against last placed
Wolverhampton.
I don’t really
know what’s worse? Being above some hushpuppies with a huge point difference,
and struggling to win a game, which you were leading, only for the end to have
you concede a goal and have two of your important players sent off? Or being
Wolverhampton Wanderers. You decide which is which.
This shit is
getting out of hands, now.
You mean to tell
me, Leeds scored first, only for Newcastle to clap back not long after; only
for you to regain your lead in the end of the first half, so that Newcastle can
again clap you back with ANOTHER equaliser; just so in the end your third goal,
which was scored to assured yourself and your team’s victory, TO BE DENIED BY
NEWCASTLE’S LATE GAME’S TWO GOALS TO END THE MATCH 4-3? No wonder the owners of Newcastle are getting tired of the club.
The game is
really gone. The additional minutes have gone way too far, just like VAR, and
everything technology based in football at this point.
The next section
will be discussing the two clubs, as mentioned in the beginning. I am quite
excited to rant about the current state of these clubs, as what happened to them
this season is quite mad. Both going through a lot, and somehow keep on finding
ways to surprise everyone. These two big names are of course Manchester United
and Liverpool.
MANCHESTER UNITED
I cannot imagine
my life without supporting this team. Through the best, through the worst, and
through the most meh, they’ve been there for me. This sentiment probably
resonates with a lot of people, as my love for this club is like that of a
married couple that keeps on being together, despite life kicking them while
being down. Separating never crossing their minds.
But do tell me
United, WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED IN JANUARY?
For the
uninitiated, United brought Sporting Lisbon’s manager Ruben Amorim in November
to replace Erik Ten Hag. They brought a man who’s sticking to his core believes
and wants his rules to be followed. His 3-4-3 tactics were… A thing alright.
After being appointed, things didn’t end up getting mended overnight. There
ups, downs, but it was better than what was before. Albeit for a brief period.
In the end, we finished the 2024-2025 campaign in 15th… WE FINISHED
15TH BECAUSE NEAR THE END AMORIM GAVE UP AND JUST FOCUSED ON
SURVIVING SO HE CAN RECONSTRUCT THE TEAM FOR THE NEXT SEASON!!! I want to call
this bullshit, but it is what it is.
Season ended,
new players were brought in, and old ones were kicked out, with some of those
kicked having an ego the size of Bournemouth. These brand new arrivals, such as
Bryan Mbeumo, Senne Lammens and Benjamin Šeško, to name a few. These new
players really brought some spark into United, as the new signings and
returning players from injuries, started guiding United towards decent results…
With some horrid tumbles here and there.
Despite getting
knocked out of every domestic cup, and chances of staying in the top half of
the league were seen as slim, things started out to look pretty decent. Until
the “incident”, we were 6th place, playing good football, we managed
to achieve decent results, even people started to hype themselves when we went
on a 3 win streak back in autumn. The good times didn’t last very long, but
signs of improvement were there.
And then that
draw against Leeds happened and Amorim got the boot. Reason being him
criticising the owners of United. He criticised their way of handling the club,
how they brought him to be a head coach and not a manager, and asking him to
change his style of play.
ARE YOU PEOPLE
DUMB? YOU KNEW HIS STYLE BEFORE YOU BROUGHT HIM IN!!! YOU BARELY GAVE HIM THE
SUPPORT HE NEEDED TO REBUILD THE CLUB!!! NO WONDER HE SAID ALL THOSE THINGS BEFORE
GETTING SACKED DURING THAT POST-MATCH INTERVIEW.
I’m not
defending him in any shape or form, but I am criticising the way the whole
sacking was handled. With former United player, Michael Carrick, in charge of
the team, Manchester United are now sitting in… 4th? FUCKING 4TH?
AND WE’RE
PLAYING GOOD FOOTBALL?
I guess Ruben’s
greatest contribution to the club was getting rid of the egotistical players
and calling out the supreme bullshit the higher-ups are doing with their
handling of the club. Besides that, what the fuck was the whole 3-4-3 system
all about? Didn’t work the first time, didn’t work the 18324408509th
time. Maybe if he changed the formation and methods, but stuck to his core of
fixing the club, things would’ve been different. But now we have Carrick and I’m
here sitting and praying we don’t end up witnessing another “Ole’s at the wheel”
situation (I’d argue Ronaldo was at fault for that and not Ole himself).
LIVERPOOL
From one end of
England to another, I have to talk about Liverpool for a bit. The current
champions of the Premier League are… Going through their “it’s Joeover” arc.
From dominating
the League last season, to now struggling to keep up with the Top 5 is a sight
to behold. What is really going on with this team all of the sudden?
Slotball is the
answer a lot of people would go for. But in reality, it’s different. The first
mini-rant is a bit superstitious
Arne Slot sold
off the necessary players and brought some that aren’t even needed in the club.
Apart from Szoboszlai, The team didn’t really need to invest into new players.
Especially with Alexander Isak, the Newcastle forward who actually caused quite
a stir in the world of football with his antics, such as refusing to play in
matches or arguing with the manager for his behaviour and for his contract.
Once Liverpool
made the purchase, he didn’t do well at all until just a couple of months ago.
It took him quite a while for him to find his footing in- What am I saying. The
guy couldn’t do shit for quite a while. Even now he’s doing fuck all.
The less said about Mo, the better.
Another point
that should be considered regarding Liverpool’s current form is the loss of
Diogo Jota. The loss of such an incredible player hindered Liverpool a lot. No
matter what they do, they won’t be able to replace him or his talent. A player
of such calibre is rare to find these days. And in an attempt to fill that gap,
Arne Slot dug several others, which opened problems for the team.
Did I mention
that Slot, while not using the formation of 3-4-3, is using somewhat similar
tactics that Amorim used for United? Very safe and unaggressive football,
relying on additional time to score the winner, relying on players that aren’t
fit (appropriate player for the game, not being injured or anything) for the
match or position. It’s just a clusterfuck at this point in this club.
At least neither are/were
playing the tactics of Arteta, which fans have passionately dubbed as HARAMBALL.
STANDINGS
With Arsenal in
the lead and City lagging behind, not to forget Aston Villa hanging there in 3rd,
with Manchester United chasing for 3rd at this point, the race for
the title is quite exciting at the moment. Not only for the title race, but the
race to get a higher position that qualifies a team for Europe, too.
I am aware I was
more biased towards Manchester United during my rant portion of the report, but
I support them. And despite hating on Liverpool, I did try my best to
auto-discuss the current issues they’re facing. Realistically it should’ve been
Chelsea instead of the Kop team. That’s because both United and Chelsea sacked
their managers one after another after both teams drew their matches. The
questionable performance of the Merseyside Reds this season was actually the
reason why I chose to talk a bit about them instead.
I really don’t
know how to end this, so I’ll just say this:
Everything is relevant and nothing is real…
Until next time
