This month was a
pain in the ass for me. Life is hard out there. But at the very least, the
Premier League was there to cheer me up, especially with how this month, it was
the teams from Manchester that kept me up on my toes with their news and
changes. The Red side of Manchester got to experience a drastic change after
Ten Hag got sacked, and the Blue side is… What even is going on there, bro?
Welcome to my
monthly report of the Premier League, where I select the most interesting
matches of the month, chat shit about them in a few sentences, and have my own
thoughts at the end on how things might be better in the future or what
might’ve been if things were altered a bit. Sit back, relax, grab a drink, and
I guess enjoy my semi-professional way of describing what happened during
November in the Prem…
Fulham have been
doing pretty good thus far. Compared to previous seasons, this is one of their
better ones. They don’t have the quality necessary to make it to break the ice
and climb in the top half as of right now, but for what is worth, they’re doing
pretty alright. Compared to Crystal Palace, whose plan is I assume is to fly
high… Or in this case fly low into the Championship, given their current
performance and overall morale.
Both halves
Fulham dominated the match, albeit they had a bit of a hard time finding the
net. Their first goal happened in the stoppage time of the first half, with a
great strike from Emile Smith Rowe, which was assisted by Raúl Jiménez. Then in
the second half, Palace was in big trouble, as their midfielder Kamada Daichi
saw the red card in the 76th minute after fouling Kenny Tete. The
final nail in the coffin for Palace came in the 83rd minute, with a
goal from Harry Wilson (assisted by Alex Iwobi).
With a score of
2-0, I retract my previous statement about Fulham doing alright this season.
They’re pushing hard not for a top half finish, but perhaps a Top 4 finish.
It’s the middle of the season, but anything is possible, if luck is on their
side.
Southampton are
basically gone back to the Championship. But this game was a very peculiar one.
They fought long and hard against Liverpool. Despite losing 2-3, they showed a
proper Premier League competitive spirit. My question is, why haven’t they been
like this from the start?
Liverpool’s
Dominik Szoboslai scored the first goal of the game in the 30th
minute, only for Southampton to hit back in the 42nd, with a strike
from Adam Armstrong.
Then in the
second half, “The Saints” were in the lead with a goal from Mateus Fernandes in
the 56th minute. Things were going well for them, but “King” Salah,
with the help of his assistant Ryan Gravenberch, equalised for 2-2 in the 65th
minute.
Things were
going well for both sides, but Southampton started going down South in the
final 10 minutes of regular time. This was highlighted when they made a grave
error when defending their six yard box and gave a way a penalty for Liverpool,
which Salah scored it with ease.
Southampton…
Just go back to the previous League. As for Liverpool, a quick praise must also
go to you as you whooped City 2-0 at the time of writing this report. On one
hand, seeing you winning the league and having the same amount of trophies as
us would hurt, but on the other hand… ANYONE BUT CITY!!!
Speaking of
City…
The match of the
month, ladies and gentleman! The supposedly best team in the world, Manchester
City, got humbled real hard by the team whose November was inconsistent as all
hell.
City forgot how to
do anything during this game. I am not even going to comment on how bad they
played their defence, let alone their attack.
Spurs showed no
mercy from the beginning. James Maddison’s strikes in the 13th and
20th minute were a clear sign that they were going to cook something
real good. For the remainder of the first half, City were unable to do anything
to protect themselves, nor counter Tottenham’s attacks with some of their own.
The cooking did
not stop there for Tottenham, as their pressure game increased tenfold in the
second half. Pedro Porro scored the third, and for many, that was the key
moment the game was over. BUT WAIT!!! THERE’S MORE!!!
I assume Brennan
Johnson scored the fourth goal for shits and giggles. By that point, the game
was practically over, but Spurs managed to find a way to humiliate the “Blue
Scum of Division Two”. EVERYONE FELT JOY WATCHING THIS MATCH!!! Way to go
Spurs, you inconsistent bastards, you!
To close the
month with my beloved club, I will briefly talk about their game against the
2016 Champions, and how it was a fantastic game for both United and Ruud van
Nistelrooy, who took charge of the “Red Devils” after Ten hag was sacked
following his defeat from West Ham.
Solid play all
around from the lads, I must say. Good composure, fantastic attacking set
pieces, and an overall solid defence is what made this game a memorable one for
me. That, and the latest 4-0 win over Everton with our new manager, Rúben
Amorim.
Bruno Fernandes
first struck the net of “The Foxes” in the 17th minute, with an
assist from Amad Diallo. Then, 20 minutes later, Leicester were unlucky and
conceded a second. But to make matters worse, it was an own goal. Nice job,
Kristiansen!
Second half saw
more of the same game plan from United, which was focusing on a solid link up
play with the midfield and defence, and less doubting when attacking. The
attackers were trying to be creative, but if a chance was presented to them,
then the creativity was tossed aside for a moment and an attempt at a goal was
made.
Garnacho
demonstrated this in the 82nd minute, when he scored the winner, and
won the final game for Ruud. Afterwards, the fans bid farewell to their intern
manager with lots of love and support. With Amorim in charge right now, I
expect things to not instantly get better, but a step by step improvement is
MUCH better than expecting people to fix the club in a flash.
STANDINGS
So yeah.
November saw City lose 5 in a row (6 if we count Sunday’s clash against
Liverpool, the main reason why I am posting the standings with the games from
December 1st) and United going through all sorts of changes that
right now, I feel they’re okay, but not grand. Liverpool were great from start
to finish, Arsenal… I honestly forgot they were even present in November. They
beat West Ham 5-2, which is great, because they’re distancing themselves from
Manchester Shitty, but can’t catch up to Liverpool.
December will be
a blast. I have a great feeling about it. Manchester United versus the two
teams from the Top 5, and we can add Nottingham Forest to that section of teams
they’re facing.
Anyways, I think the cops are now gone. Time to get
out of this cooldown spot and continue my quest on conquering Palmont…
