At long last, the new season is here.
Waiting throughout the hot and agonizing summer was worth it, as now we can
watch the world’s greatest football league right in front of us (or with the
mates down at the pub or the betting shop).
But as this is the new season, new faces
have entered the League. I’d like to give my personal “Welcome to the Big
leagues” salute to the following promoted teams: BURNLEY, SHEFFIELD
UNITED AND LUTON TOWN. I am particularly fond of Luton, as they are
unique in the sense that their home ground, Kenilworth Road, can only hold a
total of 10,356 people. Compared to the other stadiums in the Prem, that’s
pretty small, but the atmosphere is perhaps the best. Houses surrounding the
ground, fans being able to hear each other sneeze and being able to throw
banters at one another. It’s beautiful stuff.
Another thing that’s new for this season is
Manchester United’s squad. After 12 years of service, David De Gea is no longer
part of the team and is currently a free agent. In his place, its Inter’s former
stopper André Onana, who moved to Old Trafford on a deal worth £43.8 million.
Wearing the number 24 on his back, a number that fans of United recognise as
Daren Fletcher, another United bloke that is well liked within the fans of the
Red Devils.

Now onto the reporting of the month.
Originally my new idea for the reports is going to be the following: take the
best matches of that month, regardless of which matchweek it is, and analyse
them briefly while also commenting about the performance for said month. And because
we are back in the Champions League, that section will also receive a different
style of reporting. My main issue right now is that August’s best matches all
happened during matchweek 3, so my whole report on August will be covering
those matches only. To be honest it was a banger of a matchweek, we saw lots of
action drama, and excitement from both sides of the supporters, and those that
watched the games and support neither club that played.
