I just realised how short March was in
terms of Premier League football. It lasted for almost two weeks, if barely. So without further ado, let’s see
which games were the best of March… But before we dissect the month:
On
March 28th, in Myanmar, an earthquake of 7.7 magnitude hit the
country, which also affected Thailand and was felt all the way to Hong Kong,
killed around 1600 people, with thousands of injured. Thoughts and prayers go
out to all the families and people affected in the earthquake…🕊🕊🕊
NOTTINGHAM FOREST vs. MAN CITY
Alright let’s start with the shitshow.
“The Citizens” couldn’t adapt to life in
the Forest, thus they got humiliated 1-0 in the last 10 minutes of the game,
with a goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi, with an assist from Morgan Gibbs-White.
The match itself was pretty even. Man
City had plenty of chances to take the lead early on, but Forest this season
are playing some of the best football we’ve seen in a while. Creative,
passionate and full of energy football that gets fans excited.
Now imagine they crash down next season
and spend their days being a mediocre team, or a team that sometimes shows
incredible results.
This was a butt-clenching game. A real
match between two greats.
We know United’s season is a mess. Going
down every 5 games, but surprisingly becoming prime United when playing against
the good teams or in Europe. Against Liverpool, City, Chelsea and especially
with this one against Arsenal, they proved that point to be true. The first
half wasn’t really in their favour, but did show spirit and determination
whenever an opportunity was present. That goal from Bruno… Some might say it
was luck because the goalkeeper wasn’t positioned correctly, some say it was a
wonderful shot. I say it’s a mix of both. The strike was amazing, but it
could’ve been saved had Arsenal’s keeper been in a better position.
Arsenal meanwhile, played their
signature “on the foot thinking” football, albeit a bit more modern (context:
Arteta and Pep worked together a while back, thus I say it’s a bit “modern”). A
well organised possession based game with a general attack from the sides. In
both first and second half, Arsenal put the pressure on and were able to
actively make United and its fans piss and shit in fear. And that says a lot!
But that BEAUTIFUL strike from Declan Rice in the 74th minute was
ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR!!! Just like Bruno’s goal, a fine strike that was as
precise as it was powerful.
But man! That attempt at a goal to break
the tie in the last moments of the game… Tough luck, boys! Tough luck!
A guide on how to fumble a match,
written and edited by Bournemouth:
Step 1: Make sure your opponents score
an own goal early on in the match.
Step 2: Play until the game is over.
Step 3: WIN!!!
EDIT:
Step 3: Concede after a couple of minutes, do absolutely nothing and then
concede again in the second half to lose the game 2-1.
Step 4: PROFIT IS LOST!!!
Closing off this harsh month with some
banter about Spurs being one of the “Top 6”, but in reality sucks arse and
can’t even win to save themselves from relegation.
Fulham’s season has been pretty decent.
And their game against their neighbours from the north was pretty good. The
west side was basically having a training match rather than playing a league
match.
Muniz and Sessegnon scored in 78th
and 88th minute respectively. Even before scoring the late goals,
Fulham played pretty good.
Meanwhile Spurs were… Spurs.
STANDINGS
I really don’t have much to comment
about March, as events outside of football affected everyone and even now,
we’re trying to recover from the incidents. Hopefully this made you cheer up a
bit, or made you laugh. April better be a wholesome month, or else…
Until next time
